Does being intimate with a best friend ruin friendship?

i recently came out to my best friend while kind of intoxicated, and it turned out he he was gay and had feelings for me too ... i developed feelings for him and now we're somewhat dating. we are really secretive about our relationship. i feel pangs of guilt all the time because i fear it might get awkward or mess things up since i have no plans of coming out to anyone else, anytime soon. any advice? should i end this?
